VANCOUVER WELCOMES LARGEST SHIP TO DATE NORWEGIAN BLISS
The Norwegian Bliss is one of the world’s biggest cruise ships and making its only Vancouver stop September 30th.
The enormous ocean liner has made round trip voyages to Alaska all summer long, the ship docked at Canada Place early in the morning on Sunday, leaving at 1.30 am the following day. The unusual arrival and departure times were necessary to ensure transit at low tide and clearance under the Lion’s Gate Bridge. SEATTLE WRAPS UP 2018 AND 20TH CRUISE SEASON
Wrapping up its 2018 cruise season, the Port of Seattle has reported 216 vessel calls and an estimated 1,100,600 revenue passengers. The Grand Princess is the last cruise ship of the season, departing from Terminal 91 in Seattle on October 10 on a one-week voyage to Alaska, concluding the 20th cruise season out of Seattle. NANAIMO CALL FOR EXPLORER OF THE SEAS
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Explorer of the Seas returned to the Port of Nanaimo Wednesday Sept. 19, this will be the Explorer of the Seas second of two calls to Nanaimo in 2018.

SEABOURN CHARTS ALASKA RETURN IN 2019
Seabourn Sojourn will return to Alaska and British Columbia next summer with a lineup of 11-, 12- and 14-day voyages. NIEUW STATENDAM COMPLETES SEA TRIALS
The second Pinnacle Class ship in the fleet, Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam returned to Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy on August 29 after successfully completing two sets of sea trials. The 2,666-guest, 99,500-ton ship is expected to debut in early December and will sail the Caribbean in winter and then move to northern Europe, Iceland and the Mediterranean in summer during her inaugural year. BAIE-COMEAU HOSTS MAIDEN CALL FROM DISNEY MAGIC
Port of Baie-Comeau welcomed a maiden call from Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic on 25 September 2018. Calling as part of a new week-long itinerary from New York, US to Québec City, Disney Magic arrived with around 2,713 passengers and 950 crew members and will return on September 30th.
While Disney Magic berthed in port, her guests were able to participate in various organized shore excursions. They included tours to Franquelin’s Lumberjack Village, Glaciers’ Garden, Seashell Valley, Manic-2 dam, Pointe-aux-Outardes’ Nature Park and Manoir of Baie-Comeau, St. Pancrace lookout, and the churches of St. Amélie and St. Andrew. ROYAL CARIBBEAN NOW LARGEST PLAYER IN CANADA/ENGLAND
The Canada/New England cruise market is growing for 2018, mainly thanks to increased deployment from Royal Caribbean International, which for the first time will be the largest operator by capacity in the region, according to the 2018-2019 Cruise Industry News Annual Report.

NORWEGIAN ENCORE HULL ART UNVEILED
Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed that Eduardo Arranz-Bravo, an award-winning Spanish artist, has created the hull artwork for the fourth and final ship of its Breakaway-Plus class, the 325.9-meter (1,069-foot) Norwegian Encore, debuting in Miami in November 2019.
Recognized for his inventive and humanistic approach to abstract art, Arranz-Bravo’s work is showcased throughout the world and portrays a constant evolution that some refer to as futuristic. He is highly regarded, having been the recipient of countless awards and accolades, and was one of three artists chosen to represent the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. HOLLAND AMERICA SHIPS EARN PERFECT PUBLIC SCORE
Holland America Line has announced that the Amsterdam and Noordam recently earned a perfect score of 100 on United States Public Health (USPH) inspections conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Amsterdam’s and Noordam’s scores are said to follow the sister ship Zuiderdam’s perfect 100 earlier this year, adding to the Eurodam’s record-making six-year run of perfect scores. VIDEO: CELEBRITY EDGE NEARS COMPLETION
Celebrity Edge nears completion at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Saint-Nazaire shipyard in France. The 2,900-passenger vessel is the first of four vessels from Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Class. Celebrity has named 19-year old Nobel Laureate and U.N. Messenger of Peace Malala Yousafzai as the Godmother of the vessel which will debut later this year.
